This year’s event (2023) was hosted on Sunday the 17th of September at Evington Airfield in Yorkshire.

Home of the Yorkshire Air Museum, Evington Airfield is well known as one of the top venues to hold Motorsport events.

With Volvo owners, their families, friends, and Volvo enthusiasts attending from around the UK and Europe, the day made for an extremely enjoyable time for all who attended.  From the very start of the day, the organisers had planned everything with military precision. (The organisation was impressive, considering there were thousands of people and around 1,350 vehicles attending on the day.)

People with trade stalls were the first to arrive, at around 7.30am.  This gave plenty of time to set up stalls before the flood gates opened at 10am.   At 10am the main gates opened and for the next hour there was, what seemed to be, a never-ending line of Volvos driving into the airfield.

Each model of Volvo had its own owners club and these were guided to their own parking area on the main concourse.  There were Volvos as far as the eye could see, and then some.

The main stage was a hive of activity, with a DJ playing popular tunes and later on an ABBA tribute band singing all the popular ABBA hits, and then a charity raffle in aid if Dementia UK.

The Ultimate Towbars team attended the event with many enquires and questions being answered. Most of the questions centred around the fitting of dedicated wiring kits and the necessity of them on newer vehicles. (Activates the vehicle’s towing safety features.)

We also had a Volvo Master Technician join us for the day, which lead to many in-depth technical discussions from enthusiastic Volvo owners who wanted to know how to fix an issue with their car or how to make an improvement to it.

Ultimate Towbars had a team of four people attending the event, handing out flyers, doing quotes, giving out free merchandise and offering advice.  The whole team really enjoyed the event and particularly enjoyed seeing some of the vehicle’s on show during the day.  In particular the vintage Volvos that were in pristine condition and with engines running, possibly better than when new.

The finale of the day was the grand parade.  All of the Volvos attending the event took part in a mass drive past along Evington’s two mile runway. This certainly was a sight to see. Volvos from vintage models that looked like they had just driven off the assembly line to the very latest top of the range sports models that had recently driven off the assembly line.

If Volvos interest you and you would like to be involved in the Volvo community then visit the Torque Volvo Facebook group at > https://www.facebook.com/groups/1371927366275040/

Team Ultimate Towbars certainly had a great day out and we highly recommend the next Torque Volvo event if you’re interested in Volvos and want an amazing family day out.

(We would like to thank PCT Automotive and ECS Electronics for providing marketing material on the stand. Although we use brands, these companies went out of their way to provide us with banners, parts and accessories to promote to potential customers. )

Proceeds from the event went towards giving Dementia UK. With an estimated target of £10,000 set by the organisers.

If you are a tow bar manufacturer or accessories supplier and would like your products promoting at the next show we attend then get in touch.

Keep on Towing

Team Ultimate Towbars.
