April, the month of sunshine and showers, and also the time of year when things start to heat up in the Ultimate Towbars office.
It’s that time of year when people dust off their caravans and head out for a well-deserved holiday. But also the time when they find their caravan lights aren’t working.
Always, always, check your towing electrics are in good condition and working well before you hook up your caravan to head off on your holiday. The number of people calling our office early on a Saturday morning, hoping we can sort out their electrics on the day they travel, is quite scary. There’s little we can do to help at such short notice.
Short notice tow bar fitting…
Unfortunately, in most cases, it isn’t possible to fit a tow bar on the same day as you get a quote. This is due to the number of parts we would be required to stock. Normally, our shortest available fitting dates are a minimum of three days from customer confirmation.

Towbars for all-electric vehicles.
As more people are moving over to all-electric vehicles, we’re getting many calls regarding having a tow bar fitted. In most cases, we can supply and fit to all electric vehicles, however…
Before you blow your hard-earned cash on a new all-electric vehicle to tow your caravan, please make sure the vehicle has a tow weight (check in the owner’s manual) and make sure a tow bar AND electrics are available. Many can tow, but also many do not have a tow weight and cannot.
Vehicle Coding Update:
We are still waiy=ting for the update that will enable us to update the software on VAG vehicles from 2024 onwards. This is due any time, but at the time of writing is still not available to any aftermarket fitters or dealerships.

Witter Towbars
The end of an era…
We are waiting for confirmation, but from the information we have…Witter Towbars are no longer going to be supplying tow bars from the UK. The Witter brand will be manufacturing its tow bars in Romania and supplying the UK through a supply warehouse in France.
Having had a close working relationship with the company in the past, we wish them the best in their new venture.
LNB Towbars
LNB Towbars, a popular motorhome tow bar and towing frame supplier, have permanently closed down. This leaves fewer companies that can supply and fit motorhome towbars, which could have an impact on prices.

Check that your caravan rear lights work before the day you plan to travel
Book your towbar fitting in plenty of time
If you’re buying an All-Electric vehicle for towing, check the tow weight.
Twenty twenty four onwards VAG vehicle coding is still not available for aftermarket or dealerships.
