We get lots of phone calls from people needing a tow bar for their new car, especially those with new models.
Unfortunately, sometimes getting a tow bar is impossible because the aftermarket tow bar for the particular vehicle hasn't been manufactured yet, or is still in the development stage.
This is especially true at the moment, due to the amount of new EV car designs being pushed onto the new car market.
Don't take the car salesperson's knowledge as being completely factual. Just because the manufacturers state the car can tow does not mean there's a tow bar available for it.
If you're buying a new vehicle and need to tow, or even need a tow bar for a cycle carrier, check with your local tow bar company to make sure a tow bar is available before signing the sales agreement to buy the car.
You also need to check that approved vehicle-specific tow bar wiring is available for the vehicle, as fitting universal bypass electrics will invalidate any vehicle warranty and can wreck the car's complex electrical system.
With new vehicles, it's essential that you only have approved parts fitted that have been designed and tested to be compatible.
Below are a few of the latest towbars available for aftermarket fitting to vehicles.
New Ford Capri Towbars.
New Hyundai Santa Fe tow bars and wiring are now available.
New Ford Explorer tow bars and approved dedicated electrics.
New Range Rover and Range Rover Sport tow bars.
Some of the latest new vehicle tow bars include:
